Rolland Collmann Obituary

Rolland B. (Rollie) Collmann, 90, died peacefully at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home on Monday, October 26, 2020.  Rolland B. Collmann was born on February 11th, 1930 in Manson, Iowa. His parents were Jake G. Collmann and Ella L. Collmann (Zehms). Rolland attended country school in Manson and graduated from Manson High School in 1948. On September 3rd 1950, Rolland was joined in Holy Matrimony to Norma Jean Reil of Manson and they were blessed with three children. He entered the United States Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He then returned to Manson Iowa and started farming until 1970. In December of 1961 he became partners in the Eigsti and Ricklefs Insurance and Real Estate business. In 1972 he became the sole owner with the name change to the R.B. Collmann Agency, Inc. He was joined in the business by his son Bruce in 1975. They continued to operate the business together until 1992 at which time he semi retired concentrating on the Real Estate appraisal portion of the business, while his son took over operations. Rolland was involved and held various positions in leadership on the Manson Chamber of Commerce, Manson Economic Development Corp., Calhoun Board of Realtors, Lions Club of Manson, Fort Dodge Civic Glee Club, a Charter member of Manson Meridian Singers and St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a passionate gardener and wood worker. He also was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife. In the last 6 years Rollie enjoyed cooking for his dear friends and family. His family meant the world to him and he always had time to share his love and wisdom. He is survived by his two daughters Barb (Steve) Smith of Manson, Beth (Jim) Hudson of Pocahontas, daughter in law Mary Collmann of Waukee, brother Larry (Fran) Collmann of Austin, Tx., 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma and son Bruce.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Wearing of masks will be required during the time of visitation as well as during the funeral.
