Robert John Jepsen was born on December 12, 1934, near Denison, IA, the son of Walter W. and Meta (Maack) Jepsen. After receiving his formal education in the Barnum Schools, he worked for area farmers until joining the U. S. Army. Upon his return from the service, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Miller on October 3, 1959. He then began working for the Iowa-Illinois Railroad, where he was employed for over 20 years. Next he began working as a mechanic for Rost Motors in Manson, where he stayed for 27 years. In 1983, he started working for Calhoun County as a road maintainer driver, which he continued doing until he retired on December 16, 1999, having served for more than 16 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, Marilyn; children Rhonda (Jared) Carlson of Lohrville, IA; Ken Jepsen of Barnum, IA; Holly (David) Courtney of Waterloo, IA; Troy (Angie) Jepsen of Farnhamville, IA; nine grandchildren; three great grandsons; brother Gary "Pete" Jepsen of Boxholm, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Leola; brothers Don, Wayne, and Gene, who died as an infant.
