Peggy Meier Insko of Manson, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Manson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Our Savior United Methodist Church in Manson, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home, Manson, Iowa.
Peggy was born Alta Ladora Vanderhoff in Fort Dodge, Iowa on October 14, 1931, to Lloyd and Ida (Johnson) Vanderhoff. She attended country school in Clare and High School in Manson and Fort Dodge, graduating from FDSH in 1950.
She was united in marriage to Zane Meier on December 20, 1950. During the first years of their marriage they lived in Kansas, Texas and Colorado while Zane served as a Medic in the US Army.
After the Army, they came back to Iowa and began farming in the Pomeroy and Fonda areas before settling back in Manson. Peggy grew up on a farm and continued farming her whole life before retiring in 1988.
Peggy’s biggest gift was her creativity and artistic ability. She could make anything from what most of us would throw away. Peggy loved children and used her gifts to teach Sunday School and Bible School for over 60 years.
Peggy is survived by her children - Lisa (& Kurt) Espe, Manson, Cheryl (& Tim) Gleason, Ames, and Dena Meier, Rogers, TX; seven grandchildren & seven great grandchildren - Ryan (& Jessica) Gleason & their children Elodie, Evie & Zane of Potomac, MD, Valerie Gleason (& Adam Peterson) & their children Luke, Daniel & Roscoe of Austin, TX, Shane Meier of Columbus, OH, Justin (& Leaf Gleason) and their daughter Artemis of Beijing, China, Scott Meier of Austin, TX, Tyler Gleason of Pullman, WA and Tiffany Espe of Manson, IA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Zane Meier, 2nd husband Dale Insko, daughter Cynthia Meier, sisters Betty Kinkner, Irene Saxon & Ramona Farley, and brother Lloyd Vanderhoff.
