Patsy Sick Obituary

Patsy Joe Sick was born July 16, 1938 to Ralph D. Crees and Myrtle Olive (Campbell) in Harlan Iowa. She grew up with her sisters Naomi and Donna. Patsy graduated from Shelby High School on May 16, 1957.

Patsy married Melvin Sick on June 16, 1957 and they later divorced. They raised 2 children together, David Jon (Lisa) Sick of Rochester MN and Connie Jo (Dick) Marshall of Pleasant Hill IA. She enjoys her grandchildren: Andrea (Joe) Adams of Rochester MN, Mike (Abby) Sick of Rochester MN, Kathryn (Nate) Cornelius of Hudson WI, Kristin Marshall of Urbandale IA and Dan (Kelsey) Marshall of Pleasant Hill IA. She also enjoys her great grandchildren: Maya, Jenna and Cooper Adams, Paisley and Emmersyn Sick, Bella, Rylee and Zoë Cornelius.

Patsy always greeted people with her warm smile and friendly disposition and loved hearing about you. She enjoyed spending time with her family including many nieces and nephews, and friends from Golden Meadows, North Village and St Paul’s Lutheran Church of Manson. She enjoyed baking, visiting while out for a cigarette, playing bingo, going to the casino, to Las Vegas, or Disney World. Her family enjoyed helping her at the golf course or watching Wheel of Fortune or The Price is Right with her.

She shared her love of baking with many people, some of her family favorites are pies, deviled eggs, Æbleskivers, roll pancakes, hello dolly bars, potato salad, submarine sandwiches at K-mart in Ft Dodge, prime rib and broasted chicken at the Manson Bowling Alley, and brandy and peach slushies at the Manson Golf Course. She managed the Manson Golf Course for 12 years.

On May 19th, 2022, at the age of 83, Patsy Sick died of cancer at her home in Manson IA, surrounded by friends and family. Patsy is survived by her sister Donna (Arlen) Kirkhart of Manson IA, and her family mentioned above. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Naomi (Gene) Peters, her brother-in-law Gene Peters, and her long time friend Marvin Freese.

The family would like to thank Sue Gerlings of Manson IA and Unity Point Hospice of Ft. Dodge for their care and compassion.

A Celebration of Life for Patsy will be held at a later date.
