Myrtle Jeanette Carlson was born in rural Manson on Dec. 17, 1923, to Anton and Jennie (Burgstrom) Carlson. She went to country school and graduated from Manson High School in 1941.
She married Eldon Kaufman on Dec. 14, 1944 and they had five children: Delbert (Carolyn) Kaufman of Redfield, IA; Eugene (Kathy) Kaufman of Manson, IA; Melvin (Kris) Kaufman of Paton, IA; Paul (Becky) Kaufman of Manson, IA; Janet Johnson of Carroll, IA; 19 grandchildren; 35, great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; as well as her sister Eileen (Ken) Samuelson of Ft. Dodge, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eldon (2000); granddaughter Dawn Lindberg; two great grandchildren; son-in-law Don Johnson; sister Olga Kaufman; and brothers Art, John, Edwin, and Leo Carlson.
Myrtle was a lifelong member of Augustana Lutheran Church. She spent all of her married life with her husband farming and fishing. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
