Mary J. Satern, 76, of Ogden passed away Thursday February 13, 2020 at Boone County Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2020 at Larson-WeishaarFuneral Home in Manson. There will be a short visitation prior to the funeral beginning at 9 a.m.
Mary is survived by sons Kendall (Toni) Tews of Manson; Dana (Paula) Tews of Guthrie Center; Shaun (Ronda) Tews of Delray Beach, FL; Brandon (Katie) Tews of Ogden; and daughter Melissa (Ben) Collins of Thor; foster son Randy (Diane) Poutreof Manson; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren;brothers Merv (Linda) Bommel of Waukee; sisters Shirley Stockwell of Caldonia, Michigan; Pat Hunt of Van Meter; step brothers Louis (Bev) Busse of Manson; Lyle (Delores) Busse ofFt. Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Satern; her father Lester Bommel; mother Lucille Pilgram; brothers Don Bommel; Gary Bommel; Jim Bommel; sisters Bev Quade; Betty Peterson; granddaughter Baylee Dane Tews; and great grandson Memphis Tews McFarland; foster son Mark Fry.
Mary Jane Bommel was born March 8, 1943 in Dakota City, Iowa. She graduated from Manson High School in 1961. Mary worked various jobs but was most proud of raising her family. Mary was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. She enjoyed spending time talking and/or debating with anyone who would listen, camping, and reading her bible. Mary loved heading to the casinos whenever she could.
