Marlys Marian Habben was born near Palmer, Iowa, on March 31, 1929, the daughter of John and Anna (Martens) Habben. Marlys attended country school in the Palmer area. On April 16, 1950, she and William Peters were united in marriage at St. John Lutheran Church, Lizard Township. They started farming near Pioneer before moving to the Manson/Palmer area where they continued farming until 1992 when they retired. Marlys continued to be active in the farming operation working with their son Jon.
Marlys is survived by her children Dan (Deb) Peters of Beatrice, NE; Mary (Dave) Winter of Manson, IA; Jon Peters of Manson, IA; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister Jeanie (Harold) Meyer of Hampton, IA; sister-in-law Ardella Labodovich of Chesapeake, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill in 2009; and brothers Harvey and Dennis Habben.
