Louella Mae Moritz, 89, passed away November 22 peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society home in Manson.
Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held on December 3 at the Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home, Manson, Iowa.
Louella was born on February 25, 1932, to James Merrill Sr and Bertha Neavin Steburg in Fort Dodge Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1950. On January 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald L Moritz at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Lizard Township. She was a devoted farm wife.
Louella spent time volunteering with the St Johns Church Women and the Sunday School program. In 1983, they moved from the farm to a home in Manson. They joined the United Methodist Church where she was involved with the Church Women’s group. Louella was the site manager for the Manson’s Congregate Meals for twenty three years.
Louella is survived by her children, John of Pulaski, IA, Donald of Manson, Kathy (Gene) Thelke of Dows, Bill (Zoe) of Fairfield. She has eight grandchildren, Karl, Clayton, and Kelly Moritz, Nici and Eric Miller, Cindy Oberbroeckling, Lisa Krog, and Kent Thelke along with 14 great grandchildren. Sisters, Beverly Johnson, Fort Dodge, and Connie (Jack) Harris, Las Vegas.
Louella is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, daughter-in-law, Sharon Moritz, brother James Merrill Jr, sister-in-law Esther Merrill, sister Martha Sanden, and brothers-in-law Donald Johnson and Richard Sanden.
