On June 14th 2020 John Peters ascended from here to Heaven in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the Paul J. Baber Hospice Home. He was 65 years young at the time of his passing, losing his battle with cancer.
John was born in Fort Dodge in 1954. He resided in Pocahontas where he lived until graduating from Poky High School in 1973. After high school he went to Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo. He joined the automotive tech program of which he graduated. After graduating in 1975 he worked as an auto body technician most of his years. He also worked at IBP as a maintenance tech. He found the love of his life, Marilyn Gray and got married in 1976.
John's biggest passion was music. He played in several bands for over 30 years. He played guitar and was lead or back up singer. His three most tenured bands were Lizard Creek Band, Charisma, and Mid Life Crisis Band.
John has 3 brothers and one sister Loretta (Peters) Roese, Terry, Alan, and Larry. He has 3 sons Jason (Elisha); Justin (Emily); Jordan (Sammy); as well as 5 grandchildren Jevan, Jayton, Jonah, Breanna, and Madilynn. Finally his beloved wife Marilyn Peters with whom they spent 44 years of marriage together. John is preceded in death by both of his parents Herbert and June (Otto) Peters.
John was a unbelievably amazing person. The kind of person that only comes along once in a lifetime. He brought a smile to everyone he encountered. He came to know Christ later in life, after which he became noticeably different. He loved God. He was an unbelievable Father and Grandfather. He cherished his family. He adored his wife Marilyn, even though he teased her quite often. He made everyone around him a better person, and showed an example of how they could always be better as a person. He will be forever missed among many.
