Harold Lee Pelz was born on October 1st, 1933 at home on the Coen place near Washburn Illinois, the son of William and Amelia (Tjaden) Pelz.
On August 1st, 1955 he was united in marriage to Melva Ann Bohn, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He devoted his entire life to providing a warm and loving home for his wife and children.
Harold lived in Metamora, Illinois, until 1946, when his family moved to Manson. He attended school up to the 10th grade while he worked on the family farm with his father. Working many other places throughout his life, including the Manson Creamery and Ohmar Bakery in Fort Dodge, he would be drafted into the Army in 1955 where he served for 4 years. He then began his career as a carpenter working for RM (Moe) Brown Construction until 1972, when the Pelz Brothers Construction was founded with his brother Paul where he worked until he retired in 1995.
Harold passed away on Friday, August 20th, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Manson Iowa. He was 87 years old.
Those who survive Harold include his children: Michael (Trisha) Pelz of Placentia, Calif., Robin Pelz of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Nikki (Craig) Nieland of Manson, Iowa, Paula (James) Murray of Pocahontas, Iowa, Joseph (Janelle) Pelz of Manson, Iowa, Renee (Edward) Robertson of Gowrie, Iowa; 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; brother LaVerne (Margie) Pelz of Manson, Iowa, sisters Ruth (Elden) Freese of Manson, Iowa, Shirley (Merle) Ahlrichs of Storden, Minnesota, Bette (Jim) Van Gundy of Clive, Iowa, Verna (Bill) Grant of Rockwell City, Iowa, and Janet (Richard) Anderson of Rockwell City, Iowa.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Melva; infant daughters LeeAnn Marie and Krystal Kay; brothers Morris (Irene) Pelz and Paul (Doris)Pelz; sister, Eleanor (Elmer) Hess, Mary (Harold) Meister, Lorene (Loren) Leman; brothers-in-law Harold Meister, Merle Ahlrichs, Richard Anderson, Eldon Freese, and Elmer Hess; sister-In-law Irene Pelz.
