Elsie Fern (Myers) Thielmann

Elsie Fern (Myers) Thielmann, 86, of Palmer, Iowa went home to meet her Savior on May 21, 2020 surrounded by family at Pocahontas Community Hospital. Elsie was born on July 9, 1933 to Lester and Grace (Miller) Myers near Somers, Iowa. She attended the Fort Dodge schools. She was baptized in 1954 in Hollandale, Minnesota, confirmed in 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Palmer, Iowa and later received her Savior in 1977. She married Robert Thielmann on November 25, 1956 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lizard Township. Elsie and Robert lived east of Palmer where they farmed for many years. Together they raised four children. In 1989 they moved to Palmer where Elsie currently resided. One of Elsie’s proudest moments was obtaining her GED in 1997. She was a charter member of Faith Community Church, Palmer, Iowa. Elsie was a homemaker, caretaker and enjoyed the many years she served as a Sunday School teacher to many children, including her own grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting with the church ladies. Elsie served as a 4-H leader and was a member of the Palmer American Legion Auxiliary. She was everyone’s prayer warrior and was always reading her Bible or a good book. Elsie is survived by her children, Donna (Raymond) Seehusen of Pocahontas, Iowa; Marlene Thielmann of Humboldt, Iowa; John (Nancy) Thielmann of Manson, Iowa; and Beth (Joe) Butcher of Palmer, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Lois Thielmann of Fort Dodge; Marian Block of Ellsworth; and Nancy Cooper of Humboldt, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Thielmann who died May 2, 2009; brother, Earl Meyers; and sister, Velda Lee.
