Elizabeth “Liz” Christine Grey entered into her eternal rest on January 7th, 2022. She was 92 years old. Funeral services will be at Augustana Lutheran Church on Friday, January 14th at 11:00 am with the family present for visitation an hour before the service. Elizabeth was born at the beginning of the Great Depression and raised on a farm in Northfield, MN. She attended rural school, Northfield High, and Mankato State Teacher’s College. Liz taught elementary school in Minnesota, California, Hawaii, and IA. While residing in California, she met and married Kenneth “Ken” R. Grey, a sailor in the United States Navy, and returned to the Midwest. She and Ken spent the next 67 years working and raising a family in Manson, IA. Liz was an elementary school teacher and then a substitute teacher. She also worked as a seamstress and a baker. While never a fan of sweets herself, she could make a mean sour cherry or pecan pie. Elizabeth stayed busy until the end of life. She volunteered regularly at her churches, St. Paul’s and then Augustana Lutheran, and the Good Samaritan Center. She enjoyed biking, fishing, gardening, crafting, and sewing, and always had several projects in the works. Elizabeth is survived by Kenneth, her husband of 67 years; three children, Lynne (Ken Fleming), Carla (Tom LoVan), and Eric (Jing); four grandchildren, Erica and Audrey LoVan and Kenneth and Elyza Grey; a brother, Herb Noreen; a sister, Arlene Truog; a sister-in-law, Doris Davis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Velva Noreen; three brothers, John Jr., Robert, and Arland Noreen; two sisters, Ellen Hanson and Yvonne Swarts; a sister-in-law, Joyce Beneke; and two brothers-in-law, Merle and John Grey
