Eldora Marie Poppen was born August 24, 1938, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Henry and Anna (Ricklefs) Poppen. She went to country school and then graduated in 1957 from Palmer High School, Palmer, Iowa. On January 11, 1959, Eldora married Eldon Norman Janssen at St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer, Iowa. They started their dairy operation south of Palmer from 1956-1967. Then they moved their dairy operation back to Eldora's family farm, dairying until 1996 when they retired.
They were blessed with two children Danette Ranae (Janssen) Nimke of Manson, and Mark David (Lori) Janssen of Gilmore City.
Eldora's faith in the Lord was very important to her and she showed her faith in her life, and was active in many areas of Faith Community Church. Her main joy was her weekly quilting group. They have put together many beautiful quilts through the years for people to enjoy.
Survivors include daughter Danette (Marvin) Nimke, son Mark (Lori) Janssen; five grandchildren Aaron, Angela, Andrea,Travis and Andrew. She was blessed with an additional eight great grandchildren Jacalyn, Emma, Marcus, Grace, Jacob, Chance, Noah and Colin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eldon of 55 years; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
