Eldon Duane Freese was born on March 8, 1934 in Manson, IA, the son of William and Evelyn (Wiese) Freese. He passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Unity Point Trinity Regional Hospital in Ft Dodge December 11, 2020, after a brief illness. He held many jobs both full and part time. He worked at Hormel for 30 years and spent many years driving a school bus. He also spent countless hours raising sheep and continually tried to better his flock. He had a love for building and tore down many buildings for the wood and material to build all the buildings at the farm. He stayed hard at it on his acreage and was 79 when he moved to town. He has spent his later years at Friendship Haven after breaking his hip. He loved sports and the young men and women who played them. He offered counsel and attended as many sporting events as he could. Eldon also liked golf but always walked the course for exercise. He spent as much time picking up lost golfballs as he did hitting them. After he accepted Christ as his savior, Eldon attended church faithfully and always read his Bible and the Daily Bread devotional. He loved keeping the nursery at church for the little ones and they loved him just as much.
Surviving are Ruth, his wife of 67 years; his sons Doug (Mickey) of Foley, MO, Jeremy (Beckie McDonald) Palo Alto, CA; daughters Sandy (Jim) Jones of Manson, IA, and Peg Freese from Onida, SD; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, brother Dennis (Diane) Freese of Sebastian, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Virgil, Marvin and Darrel; one infant sister; and his daughters Shannon Freese and Faye Smart.
Live streaming of the funeral will be available through the church at faithccpalmer.org.
