Eileen Joyce (Widestrom) Junkman

Eileen was born and raised in Manson and graduated from Manson High School in 1955. After graduation, she moved to Des Moines and worked for Banker’s Life. She then returned home to Manson where she met her husband of 63 years, Dwane. They were married on March 8, 1959. She was a homemaker for several years while she and Dwane welcomed their two children. Later she went to work for Lutheran Hospital as an Administrative Assistant, followed by Fort Dodge Labs, and lastly as a Legal Secretary for Gordon Madson Law, where she retired from after 23 years of service. Eileen was an avid reader and served many years on the Manson Library Board. She was heavily involved with the American Legion Association. She enjoyed alter guild duties, teaching Sunday school, and served as a member of the Church Council at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson. She was also a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. With her sister, JoAnne, Eileen had a passion for genealogy and travelled all over Iowa, Illinois, and abroad to research their family history.

Eileen is survived by her children, Elaine (Jon) Merritt of Manson, Bruce (Lisa) Junkman of Chariton, and Renee Weideman of Estherville; grandchildren, Gregory (Aimee) Merritt, Jacob (Jessica) Merritt, Jillian (Reese) Morris, Eric (Krista) Junkman, Katie (Colin) Junkman, Bob Weideman, Joe Weideman; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lorna Hammen, and sister-in-law, Karen Widestrom. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Elmer and Alma Katherine (Wendt) Widestrom, husband Dwane on September 17, 2022; sisters, Lucille, Bernadine, Marie, Audrey and JoAnne; brother, William; son-in-law, Tom Weideman, and granddaughter, Debbie Weideman.
