Douglas Jones Obituary

Douglas Scott Jones passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 19th 2022, at the age of 66.

Doug was born on October 16th 1955 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Gerald C. and Betty Lou Jones. He was the middle child of 7. He grew up in Manson Iowa and had a love of music, fast cars, motorcycles and horses.

He married Robin Luann Netz on April 8th 1978. They entered the Army on the buddy program in May 1978 and trained in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and were stationed in Stuttgart Germany VII Corp Headquarters and Fort Lewis, WA. Doug worked in the military as a transportation specialist.

Doug and Robin had two daughters together, Stephenie LaRee Jones and Tricia Marie Jones-Berry, who were his greatest joy. His girls started singing when they were knee high to a ketchup bottle and he loved to hear them harmonize. When he heard a new song that he loved, he would have them learn it and sing it to him.

Doug enjoyed water skiing and time on the lakes of Washington state with his family. It gave him great joy to teach everyone who came out on the boat to ski. Horse riding and horse camping in the Cascade mountains was another passion and it allowed him to experience the freedoms he craved.

He was passionate about freedom in all facets of his life. It was his desire for freedom that brought him back to the Midwest where he continued a trucking career. Doug returned to Manson more recently where he lived close to his mother at Golden Meadows.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Gerald Curtis Jones. He is survived by his two children, Stephenie LaRee Jones and Tricia Marie Berry (Matthew) of Gig Harbor, Washington. He has 9 amazing grandchildren, Bradyn Bradley, Brooklyn Bradley, Kelton Rhodes, Brielle Bradley, Brayah Bradley, Cora Berry, Abigail Berry, Hudson Berry and Holden Berry all of Gig Harbor, Washington . Doug is also survived by his Mother Betty Lou Brenneman of Manson, Iowa and his 6 siblings Gerry DeLeon (Marshall) of Colorado, Stephen Jones (Patty) of Ohio, Marcia McFeeley of CA, James  Jones (Sandy) of Manson, Iowa, Michael  Jones (Marcie) of Kentucky and Mark Jones (Angelika) of CA, as well as a multitude of nephews and nieces.

We are thankful that Doug is now fully at peace with his loving Father in heaven, fully whole and healed.

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
