Donald Habben Obituary

Donald Raymond Habben was born on August 13, 1933, on a farm near Palmer, Iowa, in Pocahontas County, Iowa, the son of John F. and Alice Marie (Jansen) Habben. He graduated from Manson High School in 1951, and in 1953 began serving his country in the U. S. Army until 1955. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Manson and was employed at Johnson Grocery from 1955 until 1960. He then owned and operated his own grocery store, Don's IGA, until 1970 when he closed it. He then was employed by NuWay Drug until his retirement. He subsequently went back to work at Jubilee grocery store in Rockwell City until he re-retired.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lou Ann; daughter Milissa (Kent) Bailey of Webster City, IA; son Doug Habben of Manson, IA; grandchildren Nicholas (Jessica) Bailey, Allison Bailey, and Emma Bailey; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the V. A. or to the American Heart Association.

Visitation at the church is open to the public but the Mass and interment at the cemetery are private and for the family only. Masks and social distancing will be required.
