Debora Garber Obituary

On September 25th 2021, Debora De Ann (Walde) Garber died unexpectedly in her home.

She was born July 8, 1952, in Denison, Iowa, to Ed Walde and Elaine Riemer. She graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1970.

Deb was united in marriage to Ken Garber in 1971 at the Manson Mennonite Church.

They moved to Lebanon, OR, for two years before they returned to live in the Fort Dodge, IA area. In 1975, they moved to Manson until 1979, when their home was taken by the Manson tornado. This led them to move to nearby rural Pomeroy, IA, in 1980. Deb and Ken raised their beautiful family on an acreage west of Pomeroy before moving to town in 2013.

Deb accepted Christ as her Savior in 1970. Deb’s Christian faith was an essential part of her life. Deb was kind, thoughtful, creative, and a faithful and loving wife, mother and nana. She loved attending weekly bible study groups and she cherished the long-lasting friendships that she developed over the years. Her warmth and compassion for others was evident in all that she did throughout her life.

Deb enjoyed making and sending cards, reading and spending treasured time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed her “Nana time” with her grandchildren, which could include activities such as sewing, baking, crafting, taking Ranger rides and enjoying root beer floats. She got a kick out of watching her grandkids participate in their various activities and she was their biggest fan. She fostered creativity in her family by encouraging them to think outside the box, while also ensuring they had a keen eye for detail.

Deb is survived by her husband Ken of Pomeroy; daughter Penny Lenz and husband Stan of Manson, IA and their son Jake; son Christopher Garber and his wife Amy of Canton, MA, and their son Drew and daughter Paige; daughter Melissa Osai and husband George of Peosta, IA, and their daughters Melora and Melena.

Sisters; Karen (Ron) Keyworth, Judi (Kel) Gillham and Janet (Rosendo) Griego.

Preceding her in death was her father Ed Walde and his wife Joann, mother Elaine Riemer, sister Linda Walde, brother Steve Walde, sister-in-law Linda Garber and nephew Chad Walde.
