Obituary

David Bernard Wienhold, 69, of Manson passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Our Savior United Methodist Church in Manson with burial following at the Cedar Cemetery, in Rinard, IA.

David was born in Emmetsburg, IA on March 5, 1954, to Bernard and Irene (Schroeder) Wienhold. He graduated from Havelock-Plover High School in 1972. Dave was united in marriage to Pauline Susan Moeller on September 14, 1974, in Somers, IA. They would have celebrated 49 years of marriage this September.

David graduated in 1974 from Iowa Central Community College with a degree in criminal justice, as well as the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Johnston. His career in law enforcement started as a police officer in Manson in June of 1974. He later joined the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department working as a deputy. From 1985-1993 he worked as the Chief of Police in Manson. He then worked as a janitor and bus driver for the Manson NW Webster School system until 1999 when he went on to work as a security officer for Trinity Regional Medical Center, retiring in 2018. He continued to drive a school bus route until March of 2019.  David was a member of Our Savior United Methodist Church in Manson. He loved spending time with his family,  going to grandkid’s sporting events and activities, and frequenting casinos.

David is survived by his wife Pauline; children Jennifer (David) Corell of Gowrie, IA, Jody Wienhold (Mike Shiflett) of Pocahontas, IA, and Christopher (Allison) Wienhold of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren Lexi, Addie, Drew & Anna Corell, Kylie Wienhold, Taylor & Logan Shiflett and Noah and Henry Wienhold; siblings Phyllis Cooper, Sharon Gammel, Larry (Sandy) Wienhold, Diane Albers and Mike (Deb) Wienhold. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Irene; in-laws Marion and Doris Moeller; brothers-in-law Lyle Albers and Jay Moeller; niece Jessica Brokish and her three children Finn, Liam, and Amelia and his nephew Randy Cooper.

Memorials may be left to the family to be decided at a later date.
