Darrel Poppinga Obituary

Darrel Gene Poppinga was born on June 18, 1933, in Pocahontas County to Robert and Minnie (Muenzenmay) Poppinga. Darrel spent his childhood in Palmer, IA, and attended Palmer Country School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19, and served in the Korean War. He also farmed near Palmer, IA. Darrel married Beverly Ahlrichs of Palmer, IA, on February 15, 1958, at Palmer. Darrel and Beverly made their home in Manson. He loved his wife, family, and farming. Darrel celebrated 62 years of marriage to Beverly before his death.

Darrel is survived by his wife Beverly Poppinga; daughter Belinda (Frank) Green; sons David (Kathy Poppinga; Gary (Tricia) Poppinga; Danny (Cyndi) Poppinga; grandchildren Scott (Katherine) Wiemers; Shawn Wiemers; Justin Poppinga; Emily Poppinga; Andrea Poppinga; Danielle (Carl) DeWall; Drew Poppinga;and great granddaughters Josie and Presley DeWall.
