Josephine Helen Steinberg was born on August 25, 1932, at Manson, Iowa, the daughter of Earl Joseph and Helen (Widlund-Pearson) Steinberg. After receiving her education at Manson High School, she was united in marriage with Robert Nelson on May 10, 1952, and their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Pamela, Kristine, and Stacey. Their marriage later ended in divorce. On August 15, 1987, she married James Essing, and worked together with her husband operating Jim and Cindy's Bar.
Josie is survived by her daughters Kristine Nelson of Frederick, MD; Stacey (Tom) Engram of BelAir, MD; step-daughter Heather (Craig) Abbott of Savage, MN; stepson Blake (Katie) Essing of Columbia, MO; eight grandsons; brother Robert (Barb) Steinberg of Monett, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband Robert Nelson; her husband James Essing; daughter Pamela Nelson-O'Neil; half-brothers Tom Pearson and David Pearson; and her infant grandson Nolan Thomas Engram.
Josie's family would like to request that any memorials should be given to the Good Samaritan Society--Manson, in Josie's name.
