Gilbert A. Walters was born near Rockwell City, IA, on September 10, 1929, the son of Alvin P. and Lois (Maguire) Walters. After graduating from Manson High School in 1948, he worked as a mechanic until entering the U. S. Army where he served as a diesel mechanic during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge he returned home and continued working as a mechanic. Gib operated Walters TV for many years, before taking on the job of greensman at the Manson golf course, and later the Twin Lakes golf course. He was united in marriage with Helen (Gerdes) Booher on June 7, 1974.
Among his survivors are his wife Helen; daughters Fay (Allen) Lickteig of Storm Lake, IA; Julie (David) Wierson of Sherwood, OR; daughter-in-law Gladys Booher of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Kathy (Merlin) Kabler of Simla, CO; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Lois; sister Gretchen Miller; brother Roger Walters; infant daughter Diana; son Stephen Booher; and his first wife Carol.
