Colleen Carlson Obituary

Mary Colleen (McCarville) Carlson, 93, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.
Colleen was born February 10, 1926, to Thomas and Elizabeth Imhoff McCarville in Manson, Iowa. She graduated in 1943 from Manson High School. Colleen spent several years working as a telephone operator for Iowa Continental Telephone Company in Manson. On April 3, 1951, Colleen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leo “Pete” Carlson in Manson. They lived in the rural Manson area where they farmed. To this union were born three children. They include David of Algona, Julie (Bill) Harbert of Norwalk, and Kevin (Kristi) of Manson. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Aundrea, David (Jessica), Christina (Adam), Jenna (Rob), Jeff, and Audra (David); and ten great-grandchildren (McKenzie, Jacob, Jackson, Lucas, Tucker, Rebekah, Michael, Leo, Ariella, and Raya).  She is also survived by her sister Rita McCarville; and two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Kaufman and Eileen (Kenny) Samuelson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents, four brothers (Joe, Donald, Tom, and John), and four sisters (Jane, Katie, Jean, and Betty).

Her faith was her greatest love in life, followed by a deep love for her family and friends. She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson. Colleen was a wonderful homemaker and was living in her own home until just two months ago. She enjoyed playing the card game 500, reading books, working on puzzles, listening to country music, watching movies, and baking the best cherry pies ever!

Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson on Saturday, August 10, at 10:30 a.m.  Visitation will be held from9:00a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Manson.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Good Samaritan Society in Manson, as well as the staff from Kindred Hospice in Carroll.  Memorials may be directed to either of those two organizations.
